Thanks to strong family turnout, GOAT powered past the competition to claim first place in North America. The film earned an estimated $17.2 million from 3,842 theaters, lifting its domestic total to $58.3 million.
Internationally, the movie crossed the $100 million milestone. It added $44 million from 41 overseas markets. The rollout remains gradual, with roughly 30 percent of territories still to open. The result marks another win for Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind the Spider-Verse films and Oscar nominee KPop: Demon Hunters.
Wuthering Heights Finds Global Success
Filmmaker Emerald Fennell scored another victory with her bold adaptation of Wuthering Heights. The film placed second domestically with an estimated $14.2 million from 3,682 locations.
Overseas, it led the weekend among Hollywood releases. The film collected $26.3 million from 77 markets. That pushed its worldwide total to an impressive $152 million, including $60 million in North America and $91.7 million internationally.
A Strong Holiday Frame
Last weekend, Wuthering Heights edged out GOAT during the extended Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day frame. It earned $32.8 million for the three-day weekend and $37.5 million over four days. The debut marked the ninth Warner Bros. release to open at No. 1, a potential studio record.
The film also exceeded expectations overseas. It launched with $45.5 million from 77 markets, delivering a global opening of $83 million.
GOAT debuted to $35 million domestically over the same four-day holiday. About $26 million came from the traditional three-day window. The film also began its international run in 42 territories.
Faith-Based Sequel Rounds Out the Top Three
In a crowded field of new releases, Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company landed in third place with I Can Only Imagine 2. The sequel earned an estimated $8 million from 3,105 theaters.
Audiences responded positively, awarding the film an A+ CinemaScore. While the opening is solid, it trails the debut of the original 2018 hit, which launched at nearly double that figure in the pre-pandemic era.
