Disney is marking 626 Day with a new anthology series packed with fun, fast-moving stories starring everyone’s favorite blue alien, Stitch.
Stitch, the breakout co-star of Lilo & Stitch, was originally designated as Experiment 626. Created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba, he became the most famous of Jumba’s experiments. Each year, fans celebrate 626 Day in honor of the character and his intergalactic number.
Now, that celebration heads to comic shops.
A Three-Issue Event
Lilo & Stitch: 626 is a three-issue anthology series timed to bookend 626 Day. The issues arrive in May, June, and July.
The first issue features two standalone stories that highlight Stitch and his colorful cast. Jeff Eckleberry handles lettering across the series.
Secret Origins and Stranded Villains
Writer Daniel Kibblesmith, known for his run on Darkwing Duck, teams with artist Elisa Pochetta for the opening tale. Together, they reveal the secret origin of Agent Cobra Bubbles. Or at least Lilo’s version of it.
The second story shifts focus to Captain Gantu. George Kambadais writes and illustrates the adventure, which strands Gantu on an Old West styled planet. He finds himself alone and surrounded by dangerous criminals from his past.
More Fan Favorites Ahead
Future issues spotlight other beloved characters, including Nani, Jumba, Pleakley, David, and Mertle.
An expanded roster of creators joins the anthology in upcoming installments. Contributors include Moana McAdams, Chuck Brown (Disney Villains: Scar, Bitter Root), Jeff Parker (Negaduck, Thunderbolts), Edwin Galmon (The Lion King, Mister Terrific), Miriana Puglia, Emiliana Pinna, and Giulia Giacomino.
With a mix of humor, action, and heart, Lilo & Stitch: 626 aims to give fans a fresh way to celebrate 626 Day across three months of stories.
