Superstar artist and rising writer Lorenzo de Felici is set to debut a new ongoing series, Red Roots, this April from Image Comics.
The pulse-pounding adventure marks his latest step forward after a string of high-profile successes.
From Oblivion Song to Chart-Topping Hits
De Felici first gained major attention with Oblivion Song, his co-creation with Robert Kirkman. He followed that with acclaimed work on Void Rivals, the flagship title of the Energon Universe, again alongside Kirkman.
That creative partnership helped drive the Energon Universe to the top of the sales charts. Void Rivals became one of the biggest comic launches of 2024. The series is now on its 12th reprint and continues to build momentum.
With that track record, Red Roots stands as one of the year’s most anticipated new titles.
Image Comics Backs the Next Chapter
Eric Stephenson, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer at Image Comics, praised de Felici’s rapid rise.
“Anyone familiar with his work with Robert Kirkman on Oblivion Song and Void Rivals, as well as his own Kroma, should know that Lorenzo is one of the most exciting new artists of the last few years,” Stephenson said. “He’s shaping up to be a powerful force in the writing department, too, and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with him as he takes his work to the next level with Red Roots!”
A Deadly Connection
Red Roots centers on two seemingly separate lives. One belongs to a professional killer. The other to a high school teacher.
A terrifying and mysterious force binds them together.
“You don’t know what you’re stepping into. Red Roots will take you places,” de Felici said.
Red Roots #1 arrives in comic book shops and on digital platforms on Wednesday, April 22.
