Fathom Entertainment joins Cineverse to bring Pan’s Labyrinth back to theaters nationwide on Oct. 9. The release marks the film’s 20th anniversary.
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro’s fantasy drama returns with a newly enhanced presentation. The film screens in 4K for the first time in theaters. Audiences can also choose 3D and HDR versions powered by Barco.
Cineverse Takes Re-Release to CinemaCon
Cineverse will showcase the re-release at CinemaCon next week. The company plans to promote it alongside other titles on its 2026 slate.
Yolanda Macias, Chief Motion Pictures Officer at Cineverse, underscored the strategy. “Fathom’s incredible success distributing special engagement releases around major anniversaries makes it the ideal partner as we bring existing and new fans back into the masterpiece from the creative mind of Guillermo del Toro,” she said.
Premium Formats Drive the Experience
Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Entertainment, pointed to the film’s theatrical impact. “Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth is a modern-day cinematic masterpiece wonderfully suited for audiences to rediscover on the big screen,” he said.
He confirmed that the anniversary release will feature premium large format screenings. These include 3D presentations designed to deliver what he called the “ultimate, must-see cinematic experience.”
New 3D Work Enhances the Film
SDFX Studios developed new stereoscopic 3D elements for the re-release.
Vincent Defebo, SVP of Development and Operations at SDFX, emphasized the team’s role. “Everyone at our company is incredibly proud of our role in bringing this classic into stereoscopic 3D,” he said. “Collaborating with Guillermo del Toro on Pan’s Labyrinth has been a dream come true for our entire team.”
A Landmark Film Returns
The film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, where it earned a reported 22-minute standing ovation. It later won three Academy Awards for Best Makeup, Cinematography, and Art Direction.
Two decades later, Pan’s Labyrinth returns to theaters with a new presentation. The release aims to reach new audiences while giving longtime fans a fresh big-screen experience.
