The X-Files is heading back to comic book shelves this winter with a new series of original stories. The upcoming title will send FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully into a fresh lineup of strange cases, conspiracies, and unexplained phenomena.
Joe Harris Returns to The X-Files
Writer Joe Harris will return to the franchise after becoming one of its most prolific comic book creators. Harris has written more X-Files comic scripts than any other writer and is best known for the Season 10 and Season 11 storylines published more than a decade ago.
The new series will give longtime fans another chance to experience Harris’s take on the science fiction and supernatural mysteries that define The X-Files. Outside the franchise, Harris has contributed to Marvel and DC and worked on Alice Cooper comics with Dynamite.
Harris said returning to Mulder and Scully carries special meaning for him. He has followed the franchise since its original television run and later became part of its continuing story.
“The X-Files has always been sacred to me,” said writer Joe Harris. “From my own early TV fandom on Friday and Sunday nights to getting to work on one of the greatest supernatural thriller/science fiction franchises in history, the further adventures of Agents Mulder and Scully have occupied a very special place in my head and career. I am beyond honored to write them and I am absolutely over the moon to work with Dynamite on this new series.”
Riley Brown Joins the New Series
Artist Riley Brown will join Harris for this new chapter in the franchise. The stories will take place after the events of the television series and continue the adventures of Mulder and Scully.
Brown is an up-and-coming penciler whose previous work includes Dead Acre: Black Badge. His versatile style will bring the latest science fiction mysteries of The X-Files to the comic book page.
A Franchise Built for Serialized Storytelling
The X-Files became one of television’s most influential science fiction franchises during its run through the 1990s and beyond. Its legacy expanded through two feature films, multiple revival seasons, and spinoffs.
Comic books have also played a significant role in the franchise’s history. The show’s mix of conspiracy-driven investigations and monster-of-the-week stories makes its storytelling format a natural fit for serialized comics.
Dynamite Expands Its 20th Century Lineup
The new series also expands Dynamite’s work with Disney and properties from 20th Century. It follows the publisher’s work on Kelly Thompson’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel epic.

The Truth Returns This Winter
