Fan-favorite creators Patrick Kindlon (Frontiersman) and Marco Ferrari (Scarlet) return to the world of Gehenna with a new one-shot. They team with mangaka Atsuji Yamamoto (Metal Max, X-Men) for Gehenna in Tokyo.
The issue arrives in June from Image Comics and expands the story introduced in Gehenna: Naked Aggression.
A Deadly Mission in Japan
The story follows Gehenna as she travels to Japan to end a Yakuza contract on her life.
What she finds is a criminal underworld that operates by very different rules. The clash sets the stage for a fast, violent showdown.
Creators Expand the World
Ferrari said the new story pushes the character into new territory while keeping her core intact.
“Gehenna in Tokyo gave us the chance to expand the world of Gehenna without losing what makes her feel like herself,” said Ferrari. “It is violent, strange, and full of energy. For me, having Atsuji Yamamoto on the book was a real honor. He is one of those artists whose work carries weight, and seeing him step into this world was genuinely special.”
Kindlon highlighted Yamamoto’s influence on the project.
“Atsuji’s hallmark sexy-violence has been an influence on my work for some time now,” said Kindlon. “Collaborating with him is a real joy and it shows on the page. I promise you the most fun you can have with paper.”
Variant Covers and Collector Appeal
The issue will feature multiple variant covers. Artists include Samaru, Autumn Bellflower, Pass, Maurizio Rosenzweig, and Zawayuki.
Ferrari also provides a wraparound cover. A NSFW version of Zawayuki’s cover will be available as well.
Gehenna in Tokyo hits comic shops and digital platforms on Wednesday, June 10.
