Dynamite Entertainment and Queen B Productions team up to unveil the Elvira, Mistress of the Dark Tarot Deck. The set is live now on Kickstarter for a limited time, with an exclusive early price for backers.
A Complete 78-Card Deck
The deck features all four suits — Wands, Pentacles, Swords, and Cups — plus the full Major and Minor Arcana. Each card taps directly into Elvira’s signature style. A companion workbook breaks down every card and shows readers how to perform their own spreads. The creators say the deck works for beginners, seasoned readers, and collectors.
Cassandra Peterson, who brings Elvira to life, says the project reflects her long fascination with the occult. “Tarot has such a rich history, and has long been an interest of mine,” she says. “This project has been in the making for a while. It came together perfectly. I can’t wait for my fans to reveal what the future holds.”
Art by Gris Grimly
Horror illustrator and author Gris Grimly designs the deck. His art blends eerie atmosphere with Elvira’s humor and camp. His influences include Edgar Allan Poe, Edward Gorey, H. P. Lovecraft, and Elvira herself.
“When you get the chance to work with Elvira, you take it,” Grimly says. “I wanted the deck to feel archaic at first glance, but still carry her essential humor. These illustrations hide symbolism, wisdom, and plenty of arcana.”
Guidance from Renée Watt
Astrologer and tarot expert Renée Watt leads the project. She helped shape the deck’s blend of classic imagery and Elvira’s modern edge.
“Cassandra and Gris understand tarot deeply,” Watt says. “We pulled from traditional symbolism to create a deck for experienced readers and newcomers. Each card mixes historical iconography with Elvira’s bold aesthetic.”
Extras and Collector Options
The deck uses high-quality card stock and comes in a full-color box. Backers can add a special Elvira card mat. Other upgrades include signed decks, a coffin-style collector’s box, uncut sheets for framing, and a remote tarot class with limited live readings from Watt.
A New Chapter for a Horror Icon
For nearly 45 years, Elvira has entertained fans across TV, film, comics, and conventions. Cassandra Peterson continues to deliver energy and spectacle with every project. This tarot deck expands her legacy into the mystical realm.
The Kickstarter campaign runs for a short window. Fans are encouraged to back early and lock in the introductory price.
