Dynamite Entertainment is opening the Disney vault for a new DuckTales collection. Following the finale of its first series of new DuckTales stories, the publisher has launched a Kickstarter campaign featuring up to five volumes of comics spanning nearly four decades.
The collection gives longtime fans and new readers access to stories from several eras of DuckTales publishing. Some of the featured comics have been out of print for nearly 40 years, and the Kickstarter campaign is live now.
The Latest DuckTales Series Joins the Collection
The fifth volume, Four Corners of Your World, collects Dynamite’s recently completed year-long DuckTales series. Acclaimed all-ages writer Brandon Montclare (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Rocket Girl) teamed with Italian Disney comics artist Tommaso Ronda for the new adventures.
The series follows Uncle Scrooge as he shares important stories from his life with Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Those flashbacks are mixed with new adventures featuring the “core four” throughout Duckburg and beyond.
Four Corners of Your World will also include the DuckTales Valentine’s Day Special. Connor Ratliff, James III, and Carlo Lauro created the special.
The Original DuckTales Comics Return
The first volume, Coin of the Realm, collects all 13 issues of the first DuckTales comic book series. The series launched in 1988 alongside the original animated show and was published by Gladstone, a company founded around the legacy of Disney comics.
The collection features work from Disney comics creators including William Van Horn and Daan Jippes, along with artists from the Jaime Diaz Studio. The volume brings those early adventures back to readers decades after their original publication.
Scrooge’s Quest Revisits the Early 1990s
The second volume, Scrooge’s Quest, turns to the Disney Comics era of the early 1990s. The collection centers on the title story written by Marv Wolfman (New Teen Titans, Amazing Spider-Man) and illustrated by Cosme Quartieri.
The volume also includes another seven-part adventure, “Gold Odyssey.” Together, the stories showcase an era that may appeal to Disney fans as well as readers familiar with mainstream superhero comics.
Like a Hurricane Collects the Boom! Studios Era
The third volume, Like a Hurricane, gathers DuckTales stories originally published by Boom! Studios during the early 2010s. Among the featured creators is Warren Spector, the designer, director, and writer known for video games including Epic Mickey.
Spector’s run expanded his work with Disney characters into comics starring Scrooge and the ducks. His tenure concludes with a crossover between DuckTales and a fan-favorite era of Darkwing Duck stories.
Money-Grubbing Hooligans from the Deep! Revisits the 2017 Revival
The fourth volume, Money-Grubbing Hooligans from the Deep!, focuses on the era surrounding the 2017 return of DuckTales to television. New comics accompanied the animated revival and matched the style of the updated series.
The collection features work from creators including Joey Cavalieri, Joe Caramagna, and Ciro Cangialosi. Their stories brought Duckburg and its familiar residents to comics alongside the show’s new episodes.
Five Books Span Decades of DuckTales History
The five volumes range from approximately 250 pages to nearly 600 pages. Each book will be available in paperback and hardcover editions, while the campaign will also offer select special editions.
Fans looking for the complete collection can choose a slipcase box set. The set features a custom “vault” design inspired by Scrooge McDuck’s iconic Money Bin.
Variant Comics and Collectibles Join the Campaign
The Kickstarter extends beyond the five main books with a selection of limited-edition comics from Dynamite’s current DuckTales era. Variant editions, print collectibles, and other specialty items will be available individually or as add-ons to book selections.
The DuckTales Kickstarter will run for a limited time. Dynamite will provide fulfillment schedules and additional campaign details directly to supporters through the Kickstarter campaign.
