Prime Video has renewed its hit thriller Cross for a third season. The new season will run for eight episodes and stream exclusively in more than 240 countries and territories.
The series comes from Amazon MGM Studios and Paramount Television Studios. It is based on characters created by James Patterson and developed by Ben Watkins. Aldis Hodge stars as detective Alex Cross.
Season Three will expand the high-stakes world of the iconic character. The show will continue to build on its intense storytelling and strong performances.
Studio Praises Series Success
“From the beginning, Cross has captivated audiences with its layered characters, pulse-pounding suspense, and emotionally grounded storytelling,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios.
He added, “Aldis has delivered a definitive portrayal of Alex Cross, anchoring the series with depth, intelligence, and heart. We’re thrilled to continue this journey with Ben, our collaborators at Paramount Television Studios, and the rest of the incredible cast to bring even more of James Patterson’s iconic world to our global Prime Video audience.”
Strong Ratings and Awards Momentum
Season One quickly found a global audience. It drew 40 million viewers in its first 20 days on Prime Video.
The series ranked as the third most-watched premiere on the platform in 2025. It also hit number one in more than 100 countries.
According to Nielsen, Cross landed in the Top 10 of all original series during the week of its Season Two premiere.
The show also earned major awards recognition. It won Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for Ben Watkins at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards. Aldis Hodge took home Best Performance in a Drama Series at the 2025 NAMIC Vision Awards.
Season Two Raises the Stakes
Season Two follows a dangerous new case. Billionaire Lance Durand, played by Matthew Lillard, seeks FBI protection after receiving a death threat tied to a murder.
Alex Cross teams with FBI Agent Kayla Craig, played by Alona Tal, to protect Durand and track down the killer. The case grows more disturbing as the suspect leaves behind gruesome clues.
At the same time, John Sampson, Cross’ partner and longtime friend, forms an unexpected connection that adds another layer to the story.
