DC Expands Elseworlds Line With Three New Series for Summer

Elseworlds

DC Comics is adding three new titles to its Elseworlds line in summer 2026. Two of them dive deep into alternate Kryptonian stories, while a fan-favorite universe returns with a sequel.

Supergirl: Survive Reimagines Kara’s Origin

Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan, the Eisner Award-nominated writers behind Kill Your Darlings, team with artist Rod Reis (New Mutants) for Supergirl: Survive.

The story follows a teenage Kara Zor-El as Krypton faces destruction. She becomes the protector of her infant cousin, Kal-El, as they flee their dying world together.

DC previously teased the series as part of its “Summer of Supergirl” initiative. The event also includes the upcoming international anthology novel Supergirl: The World and the Milly Alcock-led Supergirl film, set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.

Superman: Father of Tomorrow Centers on Jor-El

Superman: Father of Tomorrow arrives earlier in the summer and shifts the focus to Jor-El.

Written by Kenny Porter (Superboy) and illustrated by Danny Earls (The Incredible Hulk), the series reimagines Superman’s father as the sole survivor of Krypton.

Jor-El escapes the planet’s destruction and crash-lands in a small Kansas town. A kind couple takes him in and introduces him to life on Earth. He uses both his powers and his scientific mind to help others and shape his new world.

Dark Knights of Steel II Brings Back a Fan Favorite

Tom Taylor returns with Dark Knights of Steel II, a sequel to his hit 2021 to 2023 series.

The 12-issue run continues the medieval fantasy take on DC’s heroes. It centers on a partnership between Kal-El and a knighted Bruce Wayne in a world of swords, kingdoms, and political intrigue.

Plot details remain under wraps. However, cover art suggests appearances from alternate versions of characters like Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Yasmine Putri returns as cover artist, while Otto Schmidt (DC vs. Vampires) takes over interior art duties.

The original Elseworlds series already expanded with Dark Knights of Steel: Tales from the Three Kingdoms in 2022 and the spin-off Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter, which ran from 2024 to 2025.

Superman: Father of Tomorrow #1 arrives on May 27, 2026. Supergirl: Survive #1 follows on June 3, 2026. Dark Knights of Steel II #1 launches on July 15, 2026.
