X-Files

The truth is out there, and Mulder and Scully are heading back into action. Dynamite Entertainment and Disney Publishing Worldwide have revealed new details about The X-Files, a comic book series launching December 9.

Veteran X-Files writer Joe Harris returns to the franchise alongside artist R.D. Brown. Together, they will introduce new cases that continue the story beyond the television series’ final episode.

The new series brings FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully back into a world of government conspiracies, alien mysteries, and dangerous secrets. Familiar threats remain, but a mysterious new organization is preparing to complicate their investigation.

Mulder and Scully Return Following the Series Finale

The comic picks up sometime after “My Struggle IV,” the final episode of The X-Files‘ eleventh season. The story builds on the unresolved mysteries and personal struggles that shaped the television series’ conclusion.

Mulder and Scully return to the FBI’s X-Files division following the loss of their son William. They also face the aftermath of the Cigarette Smoking Man’s presumed death and the revelation that Scully is pregnant again.

Their latest investigation draws them back into the conspiracy surrounding a secret alien presence on Earth. As the agents search for answers, they discover that another organization is pursuing the same mystery.

Unlike Mulder and Scully, the mysterious group wants to harness the alien presence for its own purposes. The competing investigations set the stage for another confrontation involving hidden agendas, extraterrestrial secrets, and forces operating beyond public scrutiny.

Joe Harris Returns to the X-Files Universe

Joe Harris brings extensive experience with the franchise to the new series. The veteran writer has already contributed nearly 60 issues to The X-Files comics and returns with another chapter in the adventures of Mulder and Scully.

Harris believes the franchise’s themes have become increasingly relevant as public interest in UFOs grows and confidence in government institutions declines. The new series will continue exploring the mistrust, secrecy, and conspiracy theories that helped make the television show a cultural phenomenon.

“The X-Files only gets more relevant as the years go by and the government gets weirder and weirder, the UFOs become mainstream, and the trust in institutions, from the government on down, gets harder and harder to spare,” said writer Joe Harris.

With R.D. Brown handling the artwork, Harris will revisit the franchise’s established mythology while introducing new mysteries. The creative team aims to capture the suspense and investigative storytelling that defined the original series.

Variant Covers Bring Back Familiar X-Files Artists

Dynamite Entertainment has also revealed a collection of variant covers featuring several established comic book artists. The lineup combines contemporary talent with creators who contributed to earlier X-Files comics.

Clayton Crain and Ivan Tao provide covers that reflect the franchise’s supernatural atmosphere. Their artwork joins contributions from artists with longstanding connections to the property.

The Walking Dead artist Charlie Adlard returns to The X-Files after working on the franchise’s comics during the 1990s. His earlier work appeared in issues originally published by Topps Comics.

Another connection to that era comes from Miran Kim, whose classic mixed-media artwork will appear on a special icon cover. The release brings a recognizable piece of the franchise’s comic book history to a new generation of readers.

Collectors will also have access to a blind-bag edition containing rare variant covers. Among the exclusives is artwork by Martin Morazzo, known for The Deadman and Ice Cream Man.

The X-Files #1 Arrives December 9

Dynamite Entertainment and Disney Publishing Worldwide will launch The X-Files #1 on December 9. The new series continues the adventures of Mulder and Scully while revisiting the unresolved conspiracies from the television show’s final season.

Readers can preorder the first issue through participating comic book retailers and add the series to their pull lists. With Joe Harris returning to the franchise, new artwork from R.D. Brown, and a lineup of collectible covers, The X-Files is preparing to open another collection of classified cases.
