Magnetic Press brings White Shadows to English-speaking readers for the first time. The Eisner Award-winning publisher releases the medieval graphic novel on January 20, 2026. The book comes from acclaimed writer Antoine Ozanam and artist Antoine Carrion.
Originally published in France by Soleil Productions as L’Ombre blanche, the story now reaches North America in a new edition. Previously, Magnetic Press introduced the creative duo with Temudjin. Now, the publisher expands that success with one of their most ambitious collaborations.
A Kingdom in Peril
At the heart of White Shadows lies a missing prince. His kidnapping threatens to tip a fragile kingdom into chaos. Yet the creature behind the abduction proves far more dangerous than old fairy tales suggest. As fear spreads, political rivals seize their moment. Power becomes the prize. Survival becomes uncertain.
Power, Fear, and the Supernatural
As the plot unfolds, intrigue tightens its grip. Hidden alliances emerge. Private ambitions collide. Meanwhile, a shadow of the supernatural hangs over every decision.
Magnetic Press Founder and Publisher Mike Kennedy highlights the book’s layered approach. “One of Antoine Carrion’s first published works, White Shadows is medieval intrigue in the fine tradition of George R.R. Martin, full of hidden political agendas woven between a wide cast of players who are individually dead set on occupying the throne,” he said. “With hints of the supernatural underlying everyone’s fears, this tale by writer Antoine Ozanam will have you imagining what else might be at work. And given Antoine Carrion’s beautiful scenery, your imagination will be well fed.”
Creators With Deep Roots
Ozanam has built a prolific career since releasing Hôtel Noir in 1999. Since then, he has crafted acclaimed historical works such as The Diary of Anne Frank and Princess Caraboo. He has also delivered action-driven fantasy, including the long-running series KLAW with artist Joel Jurion.
Carrion’s body of work spans genres and styles. In 2024, Magnetic Press celebrated his career with a crowdfunding campaign. The Fantastic Realms of Antoine Carrion spotlighted three standout graphic novels: White Shadows, Nils: Tree of Life, and Temudjin.
White Shadows arrives in bookstores and comic shops on January 20, 2026. The 100-page graphic novel blends political conflict, creeping supernatural dread, and medieval drama. Fans of Game of Thrones will find a familiar tension, driven by ambition, fear, and the cost of power.
