Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products are launching a historic comics crossover 40 years in the making. ThunderCats X SilverHawks debuts this April with three interconnected series that form a 15-part epic event.
The storyline caps more than two years of revitalized storytelling across both franchises. It brings together top creators for a crossover designed for longtime fans and new readers alike.
Writers Declan Shalvey and Ed Brisson drive the event forward by building on nearly 60 issues of ThunderCats and SilverHawks stories. The result is a high-stakes collision of worlds that serves as both a climax and a jumping-on point.
Declan Shalvey Launches the Main Series
Critically acclaimed creator Declan Shalvey continues his defining run on ThunderCats by writing and drawing ThunderCats X SilverHawks #1. The issue launches the flagship series and follows the conclusion of ThunderCats #25 and ThunderCats X SilverHawks: Road to War.
The oversized debut features 30 story pages and opens the crossover with a major turning point.
The story begins with Panthro launching a new satellite above Third Earth. The mission triggers an unexpected chain of events that alters the fate of two galaxies.
Meanwhile, The Copper Kid, Quicksilver, and Chromium investigate an anomaly in a quarantined sector. When they land on a forbidden planet, they encounter mysterious cat-like warriors. The meeting quickly turns into a fight for survival.
“I can’t believe I’m writing and drawing my own comics crossover event,” Shalvey said. “Having soon built up to 25 issues of the main ThunderCats book, I’m very excited about this new stage of Thunder-stories.
“When our initial ThunderCats series was announced, the first question I was asked was ‘What about the SilverHawks!?’ so I was delighted when die-hard fan Ed Brisson took them on last year. We always knew these two teams would go head-to-head somehow.
“Artist Drew Moss and I left little teases here and there, but now feels like the right time. That the line of books has taken us to the stage where a crossover feels justified is something I never could have expected.
“Getting to play with a new set of toys, while bashing them against the ones I’ve already been playing with makes me feel like a kid again. It’s also been a while since I’ve drawn a big bombastic superhero type story, and I’m having a blast doing so.”
Mumm-Ra Takes Center Stage
Part two arrives with ThunderCats X SilverHawks: Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living #1. Shalvey writes the series, with art by Rapha Lobosco.
The title explores the origin and hidden history of the franchise’s iconic villain. Mumm-Ra has haunted the ThunderCats since their arrival on Third Earth. Now, his ancient and tortured past comes fully into focus.
The series ties directly into the larger crossover while serving as an essential standalone origin story.
“With so many characters and relationships, the main ThunderCats book juggles a lot,” Shalvey said. “Mumm-Ra looms large in the book, but I’ve been wanting to dig into the complicated history and relationship between him and the Thunderans.
“With this series, I have such an opportunity and a large theater to tell a more epic story. I’m delighted to have Rapha Lobosco tell this tale with me after having done exceptional work with Ed on ThunderCats Lost. I can rest easy knowing he will deliver on how big this story should feel.”
Ed Brisson Brings the ThunderHawks
Writer Ed Brisson leads the third chapter with ThunderCats X SilverHawks: ThunderHawks #1, illustrated by Vincenzo Federici.
The series follows events from ThunderCats: Lost in Time and Road to War. It centers on the Lost team, stranded in the far future and racing to return home before a devastating war erupts.
To survive, the heroes don SilverHawks bionic armor and battle through hostile space and time.
“Since first starting on ThunderCats Lost and SilverHawks, the question I’ve most been asked is ‘When are they going to meet!?’” Brisson said. “It’s been killing me to keep these plans under wraps for more than a year.
“I’m proud of the work we’ve put in building up to this event. I think readers are going to be both excited and shocked to see where we’re taking it.
“I’m also relieved that I can finally answer the question. April, dear reader. They’re going to meet in April!”
A Five-Month Event Begins This April
From April through August 2026, each month will deliver new chapters across all three titles. The series will intertwine to form a unified ThunderCats and SilverHawks saga.
Dynamite encourages fans to follow the event from the beginning, preorder each issue, and join the conversation with the creative team and fandom.
A full breakdown of variant and special covers, beyond Shalvey’s work, will be revealed in a separate announcement. Stay tuned.
