The ThunderCats saga charges into its next major phase this January with ThunderCats: Lost in Time. The new special from writer Ed Brisson and artist Chris Campana is presented by Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products.
Expanding the ThunderCats Universe
Writer Ed Brisson, known for New Mutants and Predator, continues to shape the expanding ThunderCats universe. Working with Declan Shalvey, who launched the flagship series, Brisson has built a rich foundation of stories. His previous work on ThunderCats: Lost, SilverHawks, and specials like Apex, Pumyra, Panthro, and the upcoming Ho!(liday) Special has pushed the mythology forward.
With Lost in Time, Brisson takes the next leap. The story expands the lore and sets the stage for even greater challenges ahead.
A Future Lost to Chaos
In Lost in Time, the ThunderCats Lost team is hurled far into the future, torn from Third Earth and trapped in a desolate world called Sixth Earth. This planet is a dystopian echo of their home, pieced together from its shattered remains.
A brutal regime rules the planet with an iron grip. ThunderCats are outlawed, hunted to near extinction, and replaced by an army of cold, mechanical enforcers. Surveillance dominates every corner of life.
Ligon, Lynx-O, Neko, Pumyra, and a mysterious defector must uncover the truth, find a path home, and stop this nightmare future before it begins.
A Powerhouse Creative Team
Brisson joins forces with artist Chris Campana, whose credits include G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Red Sonja, Vampirella, and Pathfinder. Together, they forge a dramatic new chapter that lays the groundwork for major developments in the ThunderCats comics throughout 2026.
“I’ve been looking forward to writing this issue for a long, long time,” said writer Ed Brisson. “Things revealed in this one-shot will send shockwaves through the entire ThunderCats comics universe. I cannot overstate how much of a ripple effect this book is going to have. The team is going to learn things about their own history that will force them to reconcile with their own history, while also being forced to make one of the hardest decisions that any of them have had to face — it’s about personal sacrifice for the greater good.”
A Collector’s Treasure
ThunderCats: Lost in Time delivers something special for fans and collectors. The issue will be available exclusively as a mystery blind bag through local comic shops. Each bag includes one of four covers with art by Declan Shalvey, Enid Balam, Alessandro Ranaldi, or Cat Staggs.
Collectors also have a chance to uncover rare variants, including trade dress-free “virgin” editions or line art versions of the featured covers.
