Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products are teaming up to bring fans a holiday gift this December — the ThunderCats Ho!(liday) Special. The one-shot reunites the hit creative team that’s been redefining the franchise for a new generation.
Writer Ed Brisson, who has led ThunderCats Lost, SilverHawks, and multiple specials, returns for this winter tale. He’s joined by artist Fabio Gallo for 28 pages of adventure, warmth, and action on Third Earth.
A Snowbound Encounter
The story follows the ThunderCats as they trek through the snowy mountains of their adopted home. There, they encounter Snowman, the last survivor of his people. United by shared loss and resilience, the heroes join him in honoring the Festival of the Claw — a night of remembrance, food, and gifts dedicated to those who came before.
But peace rarely lasts for long. Just beyond Snowman’s village, Queen Tartara, the tyrant ruler of the Crystal Kingdom, plans a surprise attack. The ThunderCats must defend their newfound ally and prove that their holiday spirit — and their battlecry — will not be silenced.
Behind the Story
“I’m very excited to be delving deeper into the traditions and tribulations that both define and plague Third Earth,” said writer Ed Brisson. “Snowman is a childhood favorite character, and I’ve been looking for the perfect story to bring him into this new era of ThunderCats since day one. That day is finally here, and I cannot wait for readers to see what we’ve got in store for them.”
Brisson, known for New Mutants and Predator, joins forces with Fabio Gallo, with additional covers by Sebastian Piriz and Robert Quinn. Gallo also contributes a festive main cover.
Mystery Variants for Collectors
Fans can also hunt down an exclusive mystery blind bag variant. Each bag includes two special editions: one Blank Authentix version and one of five rare variant covers. Seventy percent of the blind bags will feature the mystery fourth cover with trade dress, while the rest may include black-and-white or “virgin” versions of the main covers.
