That Texas Blood is riding again.
The bestselling neo-noir Western from Chris Condon (News from the Fallout) and Jacob Phillips (Everything Dead & Dying) will return with That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch. The all-new, six-issue chapter launches in September from Image Comics.
The new arc will also feature variant covers by Martin Simmonds (The Department of Truth), Luana Vecchio (Lovesick), Mark Chiarello (Batman/Houdini: The Devil’s Workshop), and more.
Joe Bob Heads Back Into Trouble
Condon announced the new arc in an exclusive scoop at IGN and said the story brings Sheriff Joe Bob Coates back into the spotlight.
“Well… we’re back! Joe Bob returns, this time for a story set in 2003 that we like to call ‘Hell Comes to Allison Ranch.’ It’s our most action-packed story arc yet with strong thematic links to two of our previous, fan-favorite outings—That Texas Blood volume one and The Enfield Gang Massacre,” said Condon in an exclusive scoop on the announcement at IGN. “While this new arc has some connections to our past stories, it’s also a great place for readers unfamiliar with Ambrose County or its inhabitants to jump on, and Jacob and I are excited to bring some new collaborators along with us, too. We are so excited to be adding letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou and designer Michael Tivey to the That Texas Blood ranks. With the team we have assembled on this book, and the story we have to tell, I think this may just be the best That Texas Blood story yet.”
Hell Comes to Allison Ranch
In That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch, Sheriff Joe Bob Coates and Deputy Wilson Hart answer a call to the Allison Ranch. It is the largest and richest ranch in the United States.
When they arrive, family grievances have started to turn into full-blown war.
The first issue will also include bonus materials. Readers will get behind-the-scenes peeks, newly conducted interviews, essays, and cartoons.
A Heist, a Ranch, and the Night of War
Phillips said returning to the series feels personal for the creative team.

Image Celebrates the Series’ Return
Image Comics will mark the return with a special Facsimile edition of the series’ debut issue. The edition will be printed on deluxe newsprint paper for the ultimate reading experience.
The release gives longtime fans and new readers a chance to revisit the premiere issue that started the series. It also remains a strong pick for fans of Yellowstone.
A Crime Series With a Hard Edge
Like Paris, Texas gut-punched by No Country for Old Men, That Texas Blood began with the search for a casserole dish. That simple setup led readers into a dark, tense confrontation on Sheriff Joe Bob Coates’ 70th birthday.
The series is now in development at FX as a drama series. Jim Mickle, director, showrunner, and writer of Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, is attached. E.L. Katz, co-executive producer and producing director on Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor, is also involved.
The World of That Texas Blood Expands
The Enfield Gang Massacre, a sister series to That Texas Blood, takes place 150 years in the past. The series delivers more gunslinging action and dark frontier drama.
That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch #1 will be available at comic book shops and digital platforms on Wednesday, September 23.
