Dynamite Entertainment will bring TaleSpin back for new comic book adventures starting this August.
The new series gives another Disney Afternoon favorite a fresh run in comics. It also reunites a creative team that helped launch Dynamite’s Disney line with strong fan and critical response.
Another Disney Afternoon Classic Joins the Lineup
Dynamite has already brought several Disney Afternoon favorites back to comics.
The publisher began its Disney line with Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck, with contributions from series creators. It later expanded with an ambitious DuckTales series built around the iconic Disney Ducks.
Hercules and Aladdin also joined the lineup. Both titles connect to the larger legacy of Disney’s 1990s animation programming block. Now TaleSpin gets its turn.
Higher For Hire Takes a Dangerous Job
The new story sends Higher For Hire into action with a new mission.
Baloo and Kit must bring Cape Suzette’s newest resident, Skye Ryder, safely into town. But the job quickly turns dangerous when air pirates attack.
The pirates are led by the dastardly Don Karnage. Now Baloo and Kit must shake the pirates and protect their mysterious passenger. Fans will find out whether the pilots of the Sea Duck can survive when the new high-flying adventure series arrives this summer.
Amanda Deibert and Carlo Lauro Reunite
TaleSpin also marks a major reunion for fans of Dynamite’s Disney titles.
Writer Amanda Deibert and artist Carlo Lauro were part of the acclaimed launch team for Darkwing Duck. Now they return as co-pilots for TaleSpin.
Lauro also colors his own artwork. Letterer Jeff Eckleberry completes the creative team, with editor Nate Cosby guiding the series.
“I am so thrilled to be once again teaming up with the incredible Carlo Laura as we get to play in the world of beloved Disney Afternoon cartoons and take things to new heights!,” said writer Amanda Deibert. “Pun very much intended.”
A New Flight Through a Familiar Disney World
TaleSpin gives classic Disney characters a new setting.
The series takes characters from The Jungle Book and places them in a different world of flight, cargo runs, and aerial danger. Baloo remains as charismatic in TaleSpin as he is in the earlier Disney classic.
New readers will also meet the wider TaleSpin cast. That includes Kit Cloudkicker, Rebecca, Molly, and many more.
Disney Adventure Takes to the Skies
Comic books have a long history of aerial adventure, from Aces High to Enemy Ace and beyond.
TaleSpin adds to that tradition with Disney energy and a new twist. Deibert and Lauro’s series promises fresh aerial theatrics, adventure, and a return to one of Disney Afternoon’s most distinctive worlds.
Covers and Collector Editions
The creative team is joined by a lineup of covers from Cat Staggs, Carlo Lauro, and art from the Disney vault.
Dynamite will also offer a limited-edition mystery blind bag. The release includes rare variants and additional surprises for collectors.
