Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics, in partnership with Act 4 Publishing, have unveiled an exclusive preview of The Amazing Spider-Man by Steve Ditko Artist’s Edition.

The oversized collection presents Ditko’s original artwork at full scale. It arrives in comic shops on June 24 and in bookstores on July 21, 2026.

Landmark Stories and Original Art

The volume features some of the most important work in Marvel history from Steve Ditko. It includes Amazing Fantasy#15, which introduced Spider-Man, along with complete stories from The Amazing Spider-Man #20, #26, and #33.

Issue #33 is widely regarded as a high point of Ditko’s run.

The 15-by-22-inch edition also includes dozens of splash pages, story pages, and covers. Each page is scanned directly from the original art. The book also features rare photocopies of Ditko’s pencil work from The Amazing Spider-Man#31, shown alongside the final inked pages. Additional material spans more than 20 other issues.

Creators Reflect on Ditko’s Legacy

Scott Dunbier, founder of Act 4 Publishing, called the project a long-held goal.

“Steve Ditko’s monumental work on Spider-Man has long been a holy grail for me,” Dunbier said. “It will soon be a dream realized to have this Artist’s Edition in my hands and be able to peruse Ditko’s magnificent art in all its glory.”

Sean Mackiewicz, SVP and Publisher at Skybound, emphasized the lasting impact of Ditko’s work.

“Steve Ditko’s art made us fall in love with comics, and now everyone can appreciate all the emotion and drama he captured on the board, that’s inspired countless artists and comics since,” Mackiewicz said.

A Closer Look at the Original Pages

Artist’s Editions are designed to replicate original comic art as closely as possible. While the pages appear in black and white, they are scanned in color to preserve every detail. Readers can see ink textures, blue pencil marks, and other nuances from the original boards.

Each page is printed at the same size as the original artwork, offering a near-authentic viewing experience.

Expanding the Artist’s Edition Line

This release marks the next phase of the partnership between Act 4 Publishing and Skybound.

More titles are planned, including Doctor Strange by Paul Smith Artist’s Edition, scheduled for 2026. Additional details are expected soon.
