Sony says Spider-Man: Brand New Day has delivered the biggest trailer launch ever in its first 24 hours. The studio reports 718.6 million views since the trailer debuted on Wednesday, citing data from WaveMetrix.
The trailer surged past previous records at a rapid pace. It topped Deadpool & Wolverine’s 365 million views in just eight hours. That earlier total included more than 100 million viewers from its Super Bowl broadcast.
Outpacing Past Spider-Man Hits
The new film also outperformed earlier entries in the franchise. The first trailer for 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Homereached 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours.
That film went on to become Sony’s highest-grossing release, earning $1.9 billion worldwide.
Other recent releases have posted strong numbers, but under different conditions. Avengers: Doomsday generated more than 1 billion views across four trailers. That figure accumulated over time, not within a single day.
Tom Holland Returns as Peter Parker
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set for release on July 31.
Destin Daniel Cretton directs the film. He previously helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The cast introduces new faces to the franchise, including Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Sadie Sink. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon also return.
Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, longtime writers on the series, handle the script.
Holland on the Film’s Creative Direction
Holland spoke about the decision to return to the role in a previous interview.
“It’s a collaborative process,” Holland told The Hollywood Reporter. “The first few meetings were about, ‘Why would we do this again?’ And I think we found the reason why. I’m really, really happy with where we’re at in terms of the creative.”
