Two iconic characters return to the spotlight in G.I. Joe #21. Storm Shadow and Scarlett step back into the conflict as the Arashikage and Cobra face off once more.
The creative team brings serious firepower. Joshua Williamson (DC K.O.) writes the issue, with art by Tom Reilly (Duke, Ant-Man). Lee Loughridge (Universal Monsters: The Mummy) handles colors, and Rus Wooton (Invincible Universe: Battle Beast) provides lettering.
This rematch raises the stakes. The clash promises a high-impact showdown between fan-favorite ninjas. The question remains whether G.I. Joe will be forced to intervene before things spiral out of control.
Variant Cover Lineup Unveiled
Issue #21 features a main cover by Tom Reilly. Fans can also choose from two open-to-order variants by Joshua Cassara and Romulo Fajardo Jr., and by Ben Oliver.
Several incentive variants round out the lineup. These include a 1:25 cover by Tonči Zonjić, a 1:50 cover by Jay Anacleto and Romulo Fajardo Jr., and a 1:100 cover by Ito.
A Key Chapter in the Energon Universe
G.I. JOE remains a cornerstone of the Energon Universe. This shared comic book universe unites Hasbro and Skybound’s biggest franchises, including TRANSFORMERS.
The line continues to expand. Void Rivals by Robert Kirkman, Andrei Bressan, and Dee Cunniffe remains a central title. The two-time Eisner Award-winning TRANSFORMERS series by Kirkman, Ludo Lullabi, and Mike Spicer also drives the story forward.
A new series, M.A.S.K., launches June 3. Dan Watters writes, with art by Pye Parr and colors by Pierluigi Casolino.
Each release builds toward larger reveals. The Energon Universe continues to connect major storylines while answering key questions across its flagship titles.
G.I. JOE #21 hits comic shops and digital platforms on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
