Two supernatural icons will collide this December when Sabrina the Teenage Witch X Vampirella launches from Dynamite Entertainment and Archie Comics. The crossover marks a major team-up between the two publishers and features acclaimed writer Tini Howard making her Dynamite debut.
The series brings together two heroines who each live between worlds. Sabrina Spellman balances her mortal and magical lives, while Vampirella continues to navigate the divide between humanity and her vampiric heritage.
Sabrina Heads to the Beach
Sabrina Spellman may be half witch, but she still wants the simple pleasures of a normal summer vacation. Her aunts finally grant that wish, although they attach one important condition: Sabrina must spend part of the trip house-sitting.
Sabrina and her cat Salem soon settle into an idyllic beachside town. Her biggest concern becomes keeping her magic hidden from a group of curious and increasingly nosy neighbors.
One neighbor, however, is very different from the rest. Sabrina soon discovers that her seemingly ordinary vacation is about to become something much more dangerous.
Vampirella Finds a Powerful Ally
Vampirella also lives between two identities. As a descendant of Drakulon, she constantly balances human expectations with her vampire nature and her competing instincts for heroism and survival.
When a new threat appears, Vampirella recognizes that Sabrina may be exactly the ally she needs. The young witch’s magic could provide an important advantage as the two heroines launch into a new supernatural adventure.
Their partnership brings together two characters who have spent decades operating at the edges of horror, fantasy, and pop culture. The result promises a crossover built around magic, monsters, and two very different approaches to the supernatural.
Tini Howard Takes on Two Comic Icons
Howard has extensive experience writing some of comics’ most recognizable female characters. Her credits include runs on Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Excalibur, and the recently concluded Sirens: Love Hurts.
She is also familiar with Vampirella. The Daughter of Drakulon appeared as a crossover guest in Hack/Slash: Resurrection, one of Howard’s early breakout projects.
“I love Vampi — as a goth girl growing up her look and vibe was always important to me. I think Nancy Collins’ work was some of the first I ever read about her and I love her voice under Nancy’s pen — smart and curious but also clever and funny in a very cool way,” said writer Tini Howard. “As for Sabrina, Chilling Adventures is one of those comics that inspired me so much, I had no idea that kind of reinvention was possible. Getting to write a version of Sabrina that is an exploration of her dark powers with the look of a classic Archie beach party is so much fun.”
Bill and Ben Galvan Bring the Crossover to Life
Artists Bill Galvan and Ben Galvan will illustrate the series. Their long history drawing Archie Comics characters gives them deep familiarity with the visual style and personality of Sabrina’s world.
That experience also makes them well suited to introduce Vampirella into the Archie Comics setting. Their artwork will support Howard’s playful approach while bringing both characters together in a shared visual world.
A Cover Lineup Celebrates Both Characters
The crossover will also feature a wide range of variant covers inspired by Sabrina, Vampirella, and their long publishing histories. Eric Powell, Francesco Francavilla, Sebastián Píriz, and Mike Rooth will contribute artwork to the launch.
Interior artists Bill and Ben Galvan will also provide a cover that pays tribute to classic imagery. Collectors will have another option through a mystery blind bag featuring rare variants and additional surprises.
