Rob Liefeld’s long-awaited return to Youngblood is already a major success. The upcoming Youngblood (2025) #1 has sold out at the distributor level before its official release next week. Retailers across the country report overwhelming preorders, and Image Comics is rushing a second printing to meet the surging demand. Fans are urged to contact their local comic shops now to secure copies before they disappear from shelves.
A Tribute to an Iconic ’90s Moment
The second printing cover pays homage to Liefeld’s classic New Mutants #98—the issue that introduced Deadpool, Gideon, and Domino. In this new version, the next generation of Youngblood heroes—Vandel, Xerxes, and Plsymx—step into the spotlight. Classic team members Die-Hard, Shaft, Vogue, and Badrock replace Cable, Cannonball, Boom-Boom, and Sunspot, creating a striking update to one of comics’ most recognizable images.
Liefeld Shares His Thanks
“This is the time for gratitude,” Liefeld said. “Grateful to the Youngblood fans that have roared with their enthusiasm. Grateful to every retail partner that took the leap with their support. Grateful to comic stores, the backbone of our market. And I gotta express my thanks to everyone at Image Comics who provided guidance and enthusiasm. Enjoy this comic! The Road to Youngblood #100 starts here!”
A Collector’s Dream Launch
The new series offers an impressive lineup of variant covers, including sleek manga-style black-and-white editions, more than two dozen retailer exclusives, 30 dynamic team-up covers, and a range of incentive variants that promise to be highly sought after.
A Legendary Franchise Reignited
The original Youngblood #1 helped launch the Image Comics revolution and became one of the best-selling independent comics in history, topping one million copies. Now, with Liefeld once again steering his signature creation, Youngbloodreturns in full force for a new generation.
Youngblood (2025) #1 first printing hits comic shops on Wednesday, November 12.
