The psychological thriller Mala delivers a gripping story of family secrets, ancient curses, and spiritual awakening.

Reema’s life changes when she inherits an abandoned resort on a remote tropical island. Determined to uncover the truth, she travels there with three friends. Their search quickly turns dark. The group meets strange locals, witnesses unsettling rituals, and sees signs that something sinister is at work. Reema begins to suspect her aunt’s death was no accident.

Her investigation reveals a deeper mystery. Her family’s history is tied to an ancient curse born of tantric rituals and forbidden practices. Visions and cryptic messages from her late mother push Reema further into the island’s secrets. As she confronts betrayal and difficult moral choices, she begins a journey of transformation. The path forces her to face who she truly is.

The danger soon escalates. The rituals grow more violent, and the island’s power tightens around them. Reema and her friends must face their deepest fears if they want to survive.

Mala blends psychological tension, supernatural horror, and Indian mythology into a haunting story. Indigo Sabharwal (Curry Scent) stars as Reema. The cast also includes Raw Leiba (The Walking Dead), Gisele George (The College Tour), Nikhil Kamkolkar (Love, Love), and Nehru Sabharwal. Nisha Sabharwal (Draupadi Unleashed) produced the film and co-wrote the story. Trishul Thejasvi directs.

“This has been a true passion project from the start, giving us the opportunity to expose deep, suspenseful, enthralling themes of Indian mythos and lore across a gripping film,” said Nisha Sabharwal. “We’re very excited to have our official launch at New York Comic Con, and to offer fans an altogether new, otherworldly approach to a tried and true genre.”

Audiences will get their first look at Mala during its launch event at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 11. Exclusive clips and behind-the-scenes insights will be revealed at the panel.
