Skybound and Image Comics are expanding the Energon Universe with the launch of M.A.S.K., a new ongoing series created in collaboration with Hasbro.
Writer Dan Watters (Batman: Dark Patterns, DESTRO) leads the series alongside artist Pye Parr (Petrol Head, New Gods), colorist Pierluigi Casolino (DC vs Vampires), and letterer Rus Wooton (TRANSFORMERS).
The first issue of the highly anticipated series arrives in comic shops on June 3, 2026.
A New War for Humanity
The world has become a dangerous place. Matt Trakker is building a network to fight back.

Creators Bring High-Octane Action
Writer Dan Watters says the new series blends action with the larger mythology of the Energon Universe.

Artist Pye Parr says the project taps directly into the excitement of the classic property.

I regret selling my childhood toys, but rebuilding that world on the page makes up for it. I can’t wait for readers to see where Dan takes the Energon Universe.”
A Massive Variant Cover Lineup
M.A.S.K. #1 launches with an extensive collection of covers.
The main cover features art by Pye Parr. Open-to-order variant covers come from J. Scott Campbell, Cedric Poulat, and Mark Spears.
The issue also includes Energon Universe Third Anniversary connecting covers by Tom Reilly and Adriano Lucas.
Several incentive variants will be available from Kael Ngu, E.J. Su, Jonboy Meyers, Joshua Cassara and Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer.
Collectors can also find blank sketch covers featuring M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M., foil covers by Pye Parr and J. Scott Campbell, and die-cut foil mask covers by Pye Parr, Luke Preece, and Andres Juarez.
Energon Universe Blind Bag Program
M.A.S.K. #1 introduces the first Energon Universe blind bag program.
Fans who purchase a blind bag may receive any of the solicited covers from A through K. Each appears at different levels of rarity. The bags will also contain rare surprise variants tied to the Energon Universe.
Those surprise covers will not be revealed before release.
Creators Celebrate the Launch
Robert Kirkman, co-creator of the Energon Universe, expressed strong enthusiasm for the series.

Free Comic Book Day Preview
Skybound and Hasbro will offer fans an early look at the series in Energon Universe Special 2026, a Free Comic Book Day release arriving May 2, 2026.
The issue includes four new stories featuring TRANSFORMERS, G.I. JOE, and Void Rivals. It also provides the first official preview of Watters and Parr’s M.A.S.K. series.
The Growing Energon Universe
M.A.S.K. joins Skybound and Hasbro’s expanding Energon Universe line.
The shared universe currently includes Void Rivals by writer Robert Kirkman, artist Andrei Bressan, and colorist Patricio Delpeche.
It also features the two-time Eisner Award-winning TRANSFORMERS series by Robert Kirkman, artist Dan Mora, and colorist Mike Spicer, as well as G.I. JOE by writer Joshua Williamson, artist Andrea Milana, and colorist Lee Loughridge.
A Classic Property Returns
First launched in 1985, M.A.S.K. became a pop culture hit through its animated series and bestselling toy line.
The story followed Matt Trakker and his elite civilian task force as they battled Miles Mayhem and the criminal group V.E.N.O.M. The team relied on powerful masks and transforming vehicles equipped with unique abilities.
Now the franchise enters the Energon Universe for a new era.
