The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International have unveiled 12 new LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets.
The sets introduce interactive, screen-free play for builders ages six and up. They use LEGO SMART Play technology, powered by the LEGO SMART Brick.
Pokémon Builds React to Kids’ Actions
The LEGO SMART Brick allows LEGO Pokémon builds to respond through light, sound, motion, and sensing. The technology includes more than 20 patented innovations.
Children can interact with Pokémon characters including Pikachu, Charizard, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Gengar, Eevee, Mew, and others.
The play activities bring the characters to life in new ways. Children can feed LEGO Pikachu a brick-built sandwich. They can also tickle LEGO Charizard. The sets let kids train, nurture, and battle their Pokémon through hands-on play.
LEGO Expands Its Interactive Play System
“We are thrilled to bring together two brands that are known worldwide,” says Julia Goldin, chief marketing and product officer, The LEGO Group. “For the first time ever, LEGO Pokémon creatures respond to children’s actions: meaning fans can build, train and interact with their LEGO Pokémon creatures through hands-on, imaginative play that encourages creativity, confidence and storytelling. LEGO SMART Play is an expansion of our existing LEGO System-in-Play and we are excited to integrate it into our latest LEGO Pokémon sets. It’s all about inviting children to explore, experiment and bring their own ideas to their adventures.”
The new sets mark a major step for LEGO Pokémon. They combine familiar characters with interactive features designed to keep play physical, creative, and screen-free.
