Dynamite Entertainment is bringing back one of the most popular traditions from its current era of Gargoyles comics. The publisher has announced a third annual winter special featuring Bronx and Lance.
The seasonal stories have become a recurring part of the revived Gargoyles line. Each special gives the Manhattan Clan’s dog-like Gargoyle a chance to step into the spotlight during the winter months.
Bronx Heads Back Into the Snow
While the Manhattan Clan deals with the chaos of the holidays, Bronx takes time to enjoy the snowy weather and explore. His winter adventures began in 2024, when he met Lance, a bull terrier who quickly became his friend.
The pair will reunite in the new special. Co-writers Greg Weisman and Nate Cosby are also returning, along with original Dynamite Gargoyles artist George Kambadais.
This time, Bronx and Lance face trouble on the longest night of the year. A danger is hiding in the snow, and the two protectors plan to stay awake all night to guard the people they care about most.
Their mission also puts their friendship at the center of the story. Bronx and Lance must protect each other as they face whatever is waiting in the darkness.
Greg Weisman Celebrates the Annual Tradition
Franchise creator Greg Weisman said he enjoys returning to the winter special each year. The annual format has given the creative team a chance to keep expanding Bronx and Lance’s adventures.
“I love having this tradition and working with Nate and George (and Bronx and Lance) to bring us a new story every year!,” said Weisman.
Co-writer and editor Nate Cosby also teased some unexpected developments in the new story. Lexington will join Bronx and Lance this time, adding another member of the Manhattan Clan to the adventure.
“What a joy to tell another snowy adventure starring Bronx and his best bull terrier buddy, Lance!,” said Cosby. “Lexington’s tagging along this time, and the hungry trio is on a desperate search for winter watermelon! Yes, you read that correctly.”
A 48-Page Seasonal Special
The new Gargoyles winter special will run 48 pages. The oversized issue continues Dynamite’s tradition of giving the seasonal story extra room to develop.
The special will also feature multiple covers from several artists. Stephen Byrne, known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, contributes one cover alongside Kambadais.
Drew Moss, who worked on Gargoyles: Dark Ages, is also part of the cover lineup. Domenico Carbone rounds out the group of featured artists.
