Vin Diesel announced that the next installment of Universal’s Fast & Furious saga will be called Fast Forever. The film is scheduled to open on March 17, 2028.
Director Returns
Louis Letterier is back behind the camera. He directed Fast X in 2023, which saw Diesel reprise his role as Dominic Toretto. That movie ended with a major cliffhanger, leaving the fate of several characters unresolved. As a result, plot details and the returning cast remain undisclosed.
Shifted Production Schedule
Originally, the studio hoped to release the sequel by 2025 to resolve the cliffhanger. Plans changed, pushing the premiere three years later. Diesel has hinted at the direction of the next film. At last year’s Fuel Fest, he said the sequel will “return to the car culture, to the street racing.”
Franchise Milestone
Fast Forever will be the eleventh mainline entry in the 25‑year franchise and the twelfth film overall when the 2019 spin‑off Hobbs & Shaw is counted. Since the debut of The Fast and the Furious in 2001, the series has earned more than $7 billion worldwide.
