Paramount locks in two big titles for the 2028 holiday season. The studio schedules an untitled hybrid live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for Nov. 17 and a new Sonic universe feature for Dec. 22.
Turtles Return One Week Before Thanksgiving
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles project opens the weekend before Thanksgiving. Paramount confirmed the film earlier, with Neal H. Moritz producing. The studio’s previous three Turtles films, which include two live-action entries and one animated release, have earned nearly $913 million worldwide. The brand remains a powerhouse. In 2023 alone, Turtlesmerchandise generated more than $1 billion in retail revenue for Paramount.
Sonic Expands Its Universe in December
The new Sonic universe feature arrives a month later. Moritz’s Original Film and SEGA Sammy Group produce the project. Paramount has strong momentum with the franchise. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 opened last December in first place with $60.1 million domestic. It finished with $236.1 million domestic and $492.1 million worldwide. The Sonic trilogy has now reached $1.2 billion globally.
Paramount also built on that success with the Knuckles spinoff series for Paramount+. In its first 28 days, the series delivered more than 11 million global viewing hours and became the streamer’s top kids and family title by hours watched.
