Dark Horse Books is turning the spotlight on some of Marvel Comics’ most iconic villains. Starting with Magneto, the publisher has announced a new series of hardcover archival collections that span six decades of the company’s most ruthless characters.
The first release, Marvel’s Most Villainous: Magneto, arrives in October 2026. The volume explores the legacy of Magneto through curated stories, essays, and commentary. Comics historians John Lind and Chris Ryall provide analysis, alongside work from major creators including Grant Morrison and Chris Claremont.
A Definitive Look at Magneto

This debut volume traces Magneto’s evolution across the Marvel Universe. It highlights his most intense battles with teams like the X-Men, the Avengers, the New Mutants, X-Factor, and Thor.
The collection features stories published between 1963 and 2003. It includes work from Magneto’s creators Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, as well as Roy Thomas and Neal Adams. Chris Claremont also contributes, joined by artists Dave Cockrum, John Byrne, Brent Eric Anderson, John Bolton, Butch Guice, John Romita Jr., and Jim Lee.
Beyond the stories, the book dives into Magneto’s origin and long-term character development. It also examines his cultural impact across decades of Marvel storytelling.
Readers will find scans of original artwork and a selection of Magneto-focused covers pulled from Marvel’s archives. These materials provide a deeper look at how the character has been shaped visually and narratively over time.
Marvel’s Most Villainous: Magneto HC hits bookstores and comic shops on October 6, 2026. The hardcover edition will retail for $65.
