Skybound and Image Comics are teaming with global children’s book publisher AMEET for a new LEGO NINJAGO graphic novel. LEGO NINJAGO: MASTERS OF SPINJITZU will reimagine the iconic story that launched the global NINJAGO phenomenon.
The original graphic novel comes from Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt, the acclaimed lead writers of LEGO NINJAGO: Dragons Rising. Alessandro Valdrighi will illustrate the book, which will be available everywhere books are sold in March 2027.
A New Take on the Story That Started It All
The story follows young blacksmiths Kai and Nya after the forces of the evil Lord Garmadon separate them. Their paths will take them in very different directions and change Ninjago forever.
Kai must train with the mysterious Master Wu and his ninja, Cole, Jay, and Zane. He must master the art of Spinjitzu or risk losing his sister forever.
Nya Faces the Underworld
While Kai trains, Nya faces danger of her own. Trapped in the Underworld, she must rely on her wits and form unlikely alliances to escape.
The stakes grow as the ninja race to gather the legendary Golden Weapons before Garmadon. Their mission will uncover new threats and expand the mythology behind the NINJAGO universe.
Expanding the NINJAGO Mythology
LEGO NINJAGO: MASTERS OF SPINJITZU reimagines the original LEGO NINJAGO story for a new graphic novel audience. The book also includes never-before-revealed events that add new depth to the global franchise.
The graphic novel is designed for both new readers and longtime fans. It offers a fresh entry point while revisiting the story that started the NINJAGO phenomenon.
“It is so exciting to see this classic story brought to life in a new way,” said Diegs Lopez, Senior Editor at Skybound. “Chris and Kevin bring their love of NINJAGO to this story and Alessandro beautifully brings it to life with massive action set pieces and nuanced character work. It’s the perfect entry point for new fans or old looking to revisit their favorite story through a different lens.”
Skybound and AMEET Continue Their LEGO Partnership
LEGO NINJAGO: MASTERS OF SPINJITZU continues the partnership between Skybound and AMEET to publish LEGO-branded graphic novels. The line already includes LEGO NINJAGO: GARMADON and LEGO NINJAGO: SHATTERSPIN, both by writer and artist Tri Vuong of Everyday Hero Machine Boy.
LEGO NINJAGO: STRIKE OF THE SERPENTINE is also available now. That title comes from Cameron Chittock of Mapmakers and TMNT x Stranger Things, with art by Will Morris of Gospel.
The LEGO NINJAGO: DARK ISLAND TRILOGY graphic novel collection brings a fan-favorite chapter of NINJAGO history back into print. The collection comes from writer Greg Farshtey and artist Paul Lee, and it is available now in comic book shops and everywhere books are sold June 30.
Connecting Comics, TV, and Toys
Each graphic novel comes from a collaboration between AMEET, Skybound, and the LEGO Group’s LEGO NINJAGO transmedia team. The goal is to connect the graphic novels with the TV show and product line.
That approach gives fans a broader way to experience NINJAGO. It also helps the graphic novels expand the franchise while staying tied to its larger story world.
LEGO NINJAGO: MASTERS OF SPINJITZU arrives in comic book shops on Wednesday, March 3, 2027. It will be available at booksellers and on digital platforms on Tuesday, March 30, 2027.
