Bestselling co-writers Mark Elijah Rosenberg (Approaching the Unknown, Year Million) and Matthew Rosenberg (We’re Taking Everyone Down With Us, 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank) are teaming up for a new science fiction adventure. Their forthcoming graphic novel, If Destruction Be Our Lot, Vol. 1, collects issues #1-4 of the ongoing series.
Artist Andy MacDonald (Doctor Strange, Wonder Woman) joins the Rosenbergs on the project. The creative team also includes colorist Francesco Segala and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.
A Robot World Without Humanity
If Destruction Be Our Lot takes place after humanity has gone extinct. The robots that once served people are all that remain.
For most of those robots, life is better without human interference. They continue their work and seem content with the world they inherited.
Abe is different. The robotic replicant of Abraham Lincoln wants more than another day of routine labor.
Abe believes something greater may exist beyond the edge of the city. After nearly getting killed, he decides to leave and search for it.
His mission is simple, even if the journey is not. Abe plans to wander the Earth until he finds meaning or gets recycled trying.
Sci-Fi With Humor and Bigger Questions
The series blends action, humor, and philosophical science fiction. Its creators position it as a mix of the personality and wit of The Murderbot Diaries, the thematic depth of A Psalm for the Wild-Built, and the expansive world building of Fallout.
That combination gives the story room to explore both adventure and larger questions about purpose. Abe’s journey places those ideas inside a world built around machines that no longer need humanity.
If Destruction Be Our Lot, Vol. 1 will arrive first in comic book shops and on digital platforms. The trade paperback is scheduled for release on Wednesday, October 7.
The book will then reach bookstores on Tuesday, November 3. The collection will include the first four issues of the ongoing series.
