‘F1’ Laps The Box Office

F1

F1: The Movie, Apple Original Films‘ critically acclaimed Formula One movie starring Brad Pitt raced to an impressive $55.6 million opening in North America in the first major theatrical win for Apple Original Films.

The movie starring Pitt opposite Damson Idris, is a major turning point for Apple as it tries launch its theatrical ambitions after big-budget flops Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon. F1 boasts near-perfect exit poll stats from the audience, an A CinemaScore score and strong reviews.

Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s horror pic M3GAN 2.0 bombed, opening to $10.2 million for a fourth-place finish, half of what was forecast.  How to Train Your Dragon cleared the $200 million mark domestically and $454.4 million globally. Now in its third weekend, the DreamWorks Animation-produced movie came in second place with an estimated $19.4 million.
