Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing is giving readers a new look at DC’s Silver Age. In collaboration with Skybound, the publisher shared a first look at DC Silver Age Covers and Stories Artist’s Edition.
The oversized hardcover collects original artwork from one of the most influential eras in comic book history. The volume features an introduction by comics writer and historian Mark Waid and arrives in comic shops on November 4, 2026.
A Landmark Collection of Silver Age Art
DC Silver Age Covers and Stories Artist’s Edition presents the material in a 15″ × 22″ hardcover format. The book showcases original art drawn in the classic “twice-up” size used during the era.
The collection includes a complete set of interior pages from several key DC comics. Featured stories include 1960’s Green Lantern #1 by Gil Kane, The Flash #146 by Carmine Infantino, Superman by Al Plastino from Action Comics #282, Sugar and Spike by Sheldon Mayer, and additional Silver Age treasures.
Classic Covers From Legendary Creators
The edition also includes more than 60 classic covers from major DC artists. The creator lineup includes Joe Kubert, Carmine Infantino, Curt Swan, Nick Cardy, Murphy Anderson, and Gil Kane.
Several historic covers anchor the collection. Highlights include The Flash #123, which introduced Earth-Two, The Brave and the Bold #34, which debuted the Silver Age Hawkman, Showcase #17, which marked the first appearance of Adam Strange, and Superman #199, which featured the unforgettable Flash vs. Superman race.
The Artistry of a Defining Era
The book also features pages and splashes by Ross Andru, Ramona Fradon, Russ Heath, Jack Kirby, Jim Mooney, Mike Sekowsky, and Alex Toth. Their work helps capture the range, energy, and craft of DC’s Silver Age.
Together, the stories, covers, pages, and splashes showcase some of the most enduring moments in DC history. They also show how the era helped redefine characters including Superman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and more.
How Artist’s Editions Recreate Original Art
Artist’s Editions may appear to be in black and white, but the pages are scanned in full color. That process lets readers see the artwork as close to the original pages as possible.
Ink gradients, blue pencil, and the small details of the original boards remain visible. The pages are also reproduced at the same size as originally drawn, giving readers a rare view of the work as it appeared on the artist’s drawing board.
More Artist’s Editions Are on the Way
The collaboration between Act 4 Publishing and Skybound will continue with several upcoming titles. The lineup includes George Pérez’s The New Teen Titans Artist’s Edition, The Amazing Spider-Man by Steve Ditko Artist’s Edition, Doctor Strange by Paul Smith Artist’s Edition, Jason Pearson’s Body Bags Artist’s Edition, and Beta Ray Bill by Daniel Warren Johnson Artist’s Edition.
Those releases expand the Artist’s Edition program across superhero classics, cult favorites, and modern fan favorites. The format continues to give readers a closer look at the original craft behind landmark comic book pages.
The book will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. It will arrive at booksellers on Tuesday, December 1, 2026.
