Oni Press presents Boulet’s Notes: Back in Time–a hardcover collection of award-winning French cartoonist Boulet’s comic strips and observational cartoons, showcasing the best of the world-renowned works that initially debuted on his relatable, humorous blog before finding international acclaim. From dating to pop culture to big city living, the eponymous Boulet has poked fun at universal experiences to great renown for nearly two decades—and now Boulet’s Notes: Back in Time collects a selection of the most wryly humorous and humanistically insightful works created between 2004-2007 by one of France’s greatest talents.

Since 2004, the French cartoonist Boulet (Dungeon: Zenith) has kept an online comic diary of his adventures and reflections of everyday life. Pulled from his sketchbooks and posted on his blog, these often-witty observational comics brought Boulet a whole new audience thanks to his canny habit of posting multilingual versions of each story. Turns out, commentary on dating, pop culture, and big-city life is universal—even if the big city in question is Paris, France!

“Boulet’s improvisational, imaginative, and insanely creative comic strips have been a key part of the world of webcomics since he started posting them online way back in the early 2000s,” says translator and editor François Vigneault. “This new collection, featuring a curated and newly-translated selection of his work from the early years, is truly a ticket back in time to the start of the webcomics era!”

Boulet was born and raised in France where he studied art in Dijon and Strasbourg. He started working in comics in the early 2000s and published a dozen books for young readers before creating bouletcorp.com, his world-renowned website which got adapted in a series of eleven best-selling comic books. He also worked on the critically acclaimed French series Dungeon with Lewis Trondheim and Joann Sfar. He currently lives in Paris, working in comics, illustration and animation.

Boulet’s Notes: Back in Time will be published by Oni Press on June 11, 2024.
