Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products will take fans behind the scenes with the new Ben 10: Creator Files comic book.
The special arrives after the fifth issue of the main series hits stores in September. That issue introduces Grey Matter and concludes Ben’s first encounter with Zombozo.
Ben 10 Takes a Break Between Story Arcs
The main Ben 10 series will pause in October before its next story arc begins in November. Dynamite is filling the gap with a special look at how the comic comes together.
The Man of Action team joins series artist Robert Carey and editor Matt Idelson for the behind-the-scenes tour. Together, they will give readers a closer look at the creative process behind the series so far.
“We wanted to give the Ben 10 readers something really special, a ‘thank you’ for the support they’ve shown the series so far,” said Joe Casey. “This Creator Files issue is jam-packed with extra material, including exclusive first looks that we just couldn’t wait to show off!”
From Script to Finished Comic
Ben 10: Creator Files will use the same format and pricing as a standard issue of the series. However, this release will show fans what goes into creating each installment.
One feature breaks down the major stages of comic book production. It follows the process from the writer’s script to Carey’s artwork, Ren Spiller’s colors, Taylor Esposito’s lettering, and the final assembly of the page readers see in print.
Rare Material Returns for Fans
The special will also include features originally published in the rare and sought-after Ben 10 ashcan. Those materials will now become available to a much wider audience.
Readers will find a special interview with writer Joe Casey along with a collection of character sketches. The artwork showcases some of Carey’s earliest work on the franchise as he prepared to draw the first issue.
New Designs Preview What Comes Next
Dynamite is also opening its vault to share more of Carey’s designs and sketches. Many of those pieces have never previously been shown to the public.
The material will also offer a preview of upcoming storylines. Creator Files will exclusively debut designs for the next classic villain to appear in the series.
Variant Covers and More Extras
The issue will include gallery-style pinups featuring several variant covers from the series. Fans will also find additional in-continuity ephemera connected to the world of Ben 10.
Readers can choose between covers by Robert Carey and Duncan Rouleau. Both covers showcase multiple stages of the artists’ creative process using artwork from their previously released covers for the series.
Writer Joe Casey will also sign a limited number of copies of Ben 10: Creator Files. Those signed editions will be available for retailers and fans to order when the special arrives this October.
