Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics, in collaboration with Hasbro, announced details for M.A.S.K. #1. The debut issue launches a new Energon Universe series on June 10, 2026.
The creative team includes writer Dan Watters, artist Pye Parr, colorist Pierluigi Casolino, and letterer Rus Wooton.
A High-Stakes Global Conflict
The story centers on Matt Trakker and M.A.S.K., a network of specialists built to respond to global threats. The team uses advanced technology that transforms vehicles and drivers into weapons.
They face Miles Mayhem and V.E.N.O.M., who are racing to acquire dangerous weapons from Earth and beyond. The conflict escalates into a global arms race with humanity at risk. Trakker’s own secrets may also threaten the mission.
Extensive Cover Lineup
The first issue features a wide range of cover options.
The main cover comes from Pye Parr. Variant covers include work by J. Scott Campbell, Cedric Poulat, and Mark Spears. Additional connecting covers are provided by Tom Reilly and Adriano Lucas.
Incentive variants feature Kael Ngu, E.J. Su, Jonboy Meyers, Joshua Cassara with Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Daniel Warren Johnson with Mike Spicer.
Foil covers, die-cut mask covers, and blank sketch covers will also be available.
Blind Bag Program Adds Mystery
M.A.S.K. #1 introduces a new Energon Universe blind bag program.
Each blind bag may contain any of the standard covers, labeled A through K, with varying rarity. Three additional surprise comics are also included in the mix. These editions will remain unannounced until release.
Free Comic Book Day Preview
Skybound and Hasbro will preview the series in Energon Universe Special 2026, released on May 2 for Free Comic Book Day.
The issue includes new stories from Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Void Rivals. It also offers the first official look at Watters and Parr’s take on M.A.S.K.
Expanding the Energon Universe
M.A.S.K. becomes the latest title in the shared Energon Universe.
The line already includes Void Rivals by Robert Kirkman, Transformers by Kirkman with Jason Howard, and G.I. Joeby Joshua Williamson with Andrea Milana. Colors across the line are handled by artists including Dee Cunniffe and Lee Loughridge.
M.A.S.K. #1 arrives in comic shops and on digital platforms on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
