If Abe Lincoln can be a Vampire Hunter, it only makes sense that the first true Renaissance man, Leonardo Da Vinci, can be an action hero… right? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Brothers will be bringing to theater screens just that.
Producer Adrian Askeriah (Hitman) has joined forces with producers of the film The Departed Roy Lee and Doug Davison to bring Leonardo Da Vinci and the Soldiers of Fortune to theater screens.
Based on an original idea by Askarieh, the film will focus on Da Vinci as he joins a secret society and pit Da Vinci against Biblical demons. Reportedly, the story is a combination of ‘National Treasure’, ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ and ‘The Da Vinci Code’. One can only guess that he will be a cross between Indiana Jones and Robert Langdon and will use all of his immense knowledge of math, art, engineering, and architecture to battle against the forces of evil. As of now, there is no writer attached to the project.
Warner Brothers seems to think the way to a blockbuster hit right now is to take historical figures and turn them into action heroes after their success with Sherlock Holmes. Rumors going around are that the studio is working on both a film with Guy Ritchie about King Arthur and a supernatural thriller featuring Marco Polo.
