A cult cyberpunk series that helped launch Dustin Weaver’s career is finally getting a collected edition. Image Comics will release Assassins’ Guild in hardcover in 2027, bringing the rarely seen series back to readers.
Written by Randy Taylor and featuring art by Weaver, the collection will include Assassins’ Guild issues #0-4. The action-packed series marked Weaver’s debut and introduced comic readers to the distinctive visual style that would later define his career.
The Series That Launched Dustin Weaver’s Career
Assassins’ Guild first brought Weaver to the attention of the comics industry. He later teamed with Jonathan Hickman on Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D., a collaboration that helped expand his profile.
Weaver also created variant covers for Hickman and Nick Pitarra’s Image Comics sci-fi miniseries The Red Wing. He reunited with Hickman at Marvel for their acclaimed Avengers run and continued building his reputation through work on several major titles.
His later credits include Edge of the Spider-Verse and Infinity Gauntlet (2015). Weaver also earned attention for his popular run on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
“Assassins’ Guild is what caught the attention of publishers and helped launch my career,” said Weaver. “I’m thrilled to finally see it in this complete collection, looking better than ever, and on the shelves for a new generation of comics readers to discover.”
A Corporate Future Built on Violence
Assassins’ Guild takes place in a future America controlled by corporations. Violence and corruption have become part of everyday business, but one highly trained rogue operative threatens to bring the system down.
Tactical officer Alex Dayne suddenly develops a conscience, putting him in direct conflict with the Valentine Corporation. The company responds by setting out to destroy him.
With nothing left to lose, Alex returns to the underworld of New Washington. He assembles a team of outcasts and launches a war against the corporate machine, with one ultimate objective: assassinate its CEO.
The Assassins’ Guild hardcover will arrive at comic book shops and digital platforms on Wednesday, January 20, 2027. The collection will reach bookstores on Tuesday, February 16, 2027.
The release gives longtime fans a chance to revisit Weaver’s early work in a complete hardcover edition. It will also introduce the cyberpunk series to a new generation of comic book readers.
