Image Comics will collect Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard’s absurdist thriller Narco in trade paperback this fall. The volume will include issues #1-5 and present the recent standalone story in its entirety.
Wagner and Hillyard previously teamed on the bestselling Plastic-Verse titles Plastic, Plush, Vinyl, and I Was A Fashion School Serial Killer. Narco expands that interconnected universe of horror stories with another mix of crime, dark humor, and violence.
The Plastic-Verse Keeps Growing
The Plastic-Verse series has collectively sold more than 400,000 copies worldwide. The books have built a growing following around Wagner and Hillyard’s blend of horror, crime, dark comedy, and emotional storytelling.
Narco follows the same creative approach while introducing a new standalone story. The latest entry has quickly connected with fans of the creators’ previous work.
A Murder Mystery With an Unusual Complication
At the center of Narco is Marcus Wesphal, a man living with a rare form of narcolepsy. Whenever he becomes excited, he blacks out.
Marcus has adapted by living a largely homebound life. He also develops a harmless infatuation with the girl next door, but his carefully controlled routine collapses when he witnesses her murder.
The shock causes Marcus to immediately pass out. When he wakes, he finds himself named the primary suspect in the killing.
Marcus Is Forced Into the Outside World
Clearing his name means Marcus can no longer stay inside his apartment. He must venture into the world, track down the real killer, and uncover what happened to his neighbor.
His condition makes every confrontation more dangerous. Excitement itself can leave him unconscious at the moment he most needs to stay alert.
The Narco trade paperback will arrive at comic book shops and digital platforms on Wednesday, October 7. It will be available at bookstores on Tuesday, November 3.
