Fox is expanding the Family Guy universe. The network has ordered a new spinoff series titled Stewie with a two-season pickup.
The animated comedy is targeting a premiere during the 2027 to 2028 broadcast season. Episodes will stream the next day on Hulu, with international availability on Disney+.
A New Preschool and Big Adventures
The series centers on Stewie Griffin after he is expelled from his old preschool. He enrolls in a new school that falls far short of his expectations.
The classroom includes unfamiliar kids and an unusual classmate. A 75-year-old turtle sits in the room, ready to share a strange theory about nearly every subject.
Everyone is miserable at first. That changes when Stewie begins using his signature inventions. His devices send the group through space and time, transforming dull school days into wild and surreal adventures.
Seth MacFarlane Returns as Stewie
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will once again voice Stewie. He also serves as executive producer through Fuzzy Door Productions.
MacFarlane created the series with Kirker Butler. Butler will executive produce alongside Kara Vallow and will also serve as showrunner.
“I’d like to thank Fox for this incredible opportunity, and I’m excited to start pretending I’m collaborating closely with them on the show,” MacFarlane said in a statement.
Butler added, “I am honored and humbled that Seth, 20th Television Animation and Fox have trusted me with one of the most iconic animated characters in the history of television. I have known Seth for more than two decades, worked with him on half a dozen projects, and I am hopeful this is the one where he finally learns my name.”
Launch Comes After Major ‘Family Guy’ Milestone
The spinoff arrives after a milestone moment for the flagship series. Family Guy aired its Season 24 premiere and its 450th episode in February.
