Sam Worthington to Take on Quartermain

Sam_WorthingtonAction star of the moment, Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans) has signed on to star and produce a film based on H Rider Haggard’s literary hero Allan Quartermain at Dreamworks, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog.

The plot of the new film, which at this moment is called Quartermain, will take a futuristic spin Haggard’s hero after humanity have departed the planet.  Quartermain returns to the planet after a trip into space, and follows him on a new planet-wide scale adventure.

While there is no director on board the project just yet, the film has a script from Mark Verheiden (Timecop) and will be produced by Smallville team Miles Millar and Al Gough, alongside first time producer Worthington.
