Holmes Producer to Take On Musketeers

Three_MusketeersAfter the success of Sherlock Holmes, producer Lionel Wigram and Warner Brothers are now gearing up to remake Three Musketeers. According to Variety, Wigram is tailoring this new film for a younger audience with the focus on action and sex.

Wigram has Peter Straughan on board to write the script. Straughan penned last years The Men Who Stare At Goats. The project at this moment has no director or cast attached.

The classic tale of Athos, Porthos, and Aramis by Alexandre Dumas has been made into films countless times, from the silent Douglas Fairbanks film, to the Gene Kelly version of the 40’s, and the whacky Richard Lester films that starred Michael York, Oliver Reed, Frank Finlay and Richard Chamberlain in the mid seventies.  The last a Disney remake in 1993 was also geared toward a younger audience, with Charlie Sheen, Keifer Sutherland, Oliver Platt and Chris O’Donnell as Aramis, Athos, Porthos and  D’Artagnan, respectively.
