Amy Adams & Chris Cooper to Join New Muppet Film

Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones are all in talks to join Jason Segel in the as yet untitled new Muppet film, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog.

The plot of the film involves the character played by Segel to reunite the Muppets to save their old studio from an oil tycoon (to be played by Chris Cooper) who believes there’s oil hiding underneath and never found the Muppets funny anyway.  Amy Adams would play Segel’s girlfriend, who joins him in a cross country trek, along with Walter the Bear. Jones would be playing a TV executive.

Jason Segel is wearing two hats on this film, as the human lead and co-writer (his partner on the screenplay is Nicholas Stoller).  The still untitled Muppet film is eyeing a November start date with James Bobin (Flight of the Conchords) directing.  No word yet on a release date.
