WB Hires Writers for Green Lantern 2 & The Flash

Green_Lantern_The_FlashWarner Brothers must be very happy with what they are seeing from the set of  Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern film, even though the film is still a year away from its release to theaters.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog,  the studio has already hired the team behind the Green Lantern film  to write a treatment for the second installment for a possible Green Lantern franchise, as well as a treatment for the much delayed The Flash film. Under the terms of the contract, the trio of Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim will then write the screenplay for one of the two projects, which will be determined at a later date.

The Flash film will take inspiration from  DCE’s chief creative officer Geoff Johns’  recent work on the Flash comics and will feature the Barry Allen incarnation of The Flash.  Johns had hinted that Warner brothers would announce plans for The Flash movie at next month’s San Diego Comic Con International previously.  And as of late last month, executives at Warner Brothers indicated that films for both Wonder woman and Aquaman might possibly follow.

In any case, the first Green Lantern film has a release date of June 17, 2011 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Blake Lively, Tim Robbins, John Tenney, Angela Basset and Gattlin Griffith.
