The Vulture and The Black Cat are battling it out to be in the latest installment of Spider-man. Sony Pictures wants the script to include a romantic sub-plot with The Black Cat while director Sam Raimi is against the idea. He is pushing for the Vulture to be the featured villain.
The differing views about the villain have their origins in the making of “Spider-Man 3.” Raimi, a spiderfan since the character’s 1960s debut, wanted to use classic villain Vulture in addition to Sandman, another classic creation, for that movie. The studio pushed him to use Venom because it thought that character, with its slick alien-symbiote origin, would lend itself to more effective marketing material and a way to attract younger audiences.
The result is that the film is being pushed back from its anticipated start date.
