The complete-series boxed set of the sci-fi series “Battlestar Galactica” has been named TV DVD of the year as part of the sixth annual TV DVD Awards.
A panel of judges, comprised of DVD critics and journalists, selected five finalists in each of 11 categories from a field of studio submissions of titles released between Oct. 1, 2008, and Sept. 30, 2009. Winners were determined by an online consumer vote conducted in November.
Battlestar Galactica also won for Best Complete-Series Set.
Best Current Series went to HBO’s vampire drama True Blood: The Complete First Season, which enjoyed a groundswell of support from online fan sites. Similarly, Joss Whedon fans helped make Dollhouse: Season One a winner in the Best Extras category.
