Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters until July 3, 2012, and the studio is already mapping out plans for a sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The studio penciled in a release date for the second film in the rebooted franchise, putting a marker down on May 2, 2014.
Lionsgate has claimed the Thanksgiving 2013 holiday for Catching Fire, the second film in theHunger Games franchise. The sequel opens in theaters Nov. 22, 2013.
Disney has scheduled two as yet untitled Marvel films to debut in summer 2014. The first has been dated for May 16, 2014. The second Marvel pic opens June 27, 2014. The frontrunners to take the two spots are a sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger and Doctor Strange.
