Martha Kent Returns to Smallville

Annette O’Toole is reprising her role as Martha Kent on the CW show Smallville, according to Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly.  Producers are still hammering out all the details of her return, so there is no word on the exact timing of her reappearance on the show, but it will probably be during May sweeps.

Before being cast in the role as Clark Kent’s mother at the beginning the series, the producers of the show had no idea that she played Lana Lang in Superman 3. O’Toole left the series during season 6, after Martha’s husband Jonathan Kent beat out Lex Luthor for the U.S. Senate seat and unexpectedly died, making her the Senator and sending her to Washington, D.C.

Sources have hinted that there will be an unexpected surprise or two during the family reunion.
