Isaacs, Newton & Tennant in Retreat

Director Carl Tibbetts has landed pretty impressive cast for Retreat, his first feature film.  According to Screen Daily, Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter), Thandie Newton (2012) and David Tennant (Doctor Who) have all signed on to the psychological thriller from Magnet Films.

The film centers on a married couple (played by Newton and Isaacs) who take a trip to a remote island to rebuild their relationship. Their peaceful holiday is shattered when a dying man in a military uniform (played by Tennant) arrives on their doorstep and tells them that a deadly virus is killing millions on the mainland.

“It reminded me of Dead Calm when I first read it. Only better,” producer Gary Sinyor told Screen Daily. “It’s got a similar sexual tension but the battle of wits between the characters and plot twists are constantly surprising. We’re delighted to have secured three of the UK’s most powerful actors.

The script is from Carl Tibbetts  and Janice Hallett.  Filming is set to start shooting this May in Canada.
