Jon Favreau has confirmed via his Twitter account that Harrison Ford has joined the cast of Favreau’s next film, Cowboys and Aliens.
Yesterday, Favreau tweeted that ““Some very cool Cowboys & Aliens casting news coming soon…”. that tweet coincided with the Latino Review reporting that Ford would co-star in the film. Today, Favreau confirmed this by posting “Please stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys & Aliens. Okay? He is. Please don’t tell anybody.”
The 2006 graphic novel Cowboys and Aliens mixes the wild west with science fiction. Set in Arizona in the 1800’s, it follows Zeke Jackson (to be played by Daniel Craig) who teams up with a band of Apaches, and Ella (Olivia Wilde, “13” from TV’s House) to fight against an alien invasion.
No word yet on who Ford will play in the film. Shooting will begin this July from a script by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lendelof. The film is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2011.
